Homemade traditional bags

Homemade traditional bags

Sponsored Home Activity:

Twenty five housewives of the small cooperative Rwizibikorwa in Gasenyi Village will learn how to make traditional bags from local natural materials. The course also includes training in how to find a best market for their products and how to add value to their bags by simple extras and modern technologies.

Value for poor families:

The target output of this activity is “every woman who is trained can make her own traditional bag and try to sell at the local market. This training encourages poor families to find other sources of income besides agriculture
Traditional bag-making uses local natural materials that preserve the natural forest environment threatened by increasing areas of forest taken over with the planting of crops.
